The Learning Council: Pride Flags in Paonia

Blending educational, social, and health-oriented goals, Colorado Equity Compass (CEC) storytelling awardee The Learning Council (TLC) is a holistically minded organization that works primarily to make the Colorado school system a more equitable one, provide healthy food to its local community, and support social justice initiatives. 2023 marks the first year that Pride Flags are hanging in the town of Paonia in celebration of Pride Month. This was an initiative of TLC. The rainbow flags will fly for the entire month of June, with a large banner at the 4-way stop that reads, “You Are Welcome Here.”
