"Lopika" — Queer Stories: Health Inequities in Colorado

This story product was submitted by Colorado Equity Compass (CEC) awardee Out Boulder County. Out Boulder County is an LGBTQ+ community center that advocates on behalf of Colorado’s LGBTQ+ population and used its funding to collect stories related to the social determinants of health.

This is the story of a non-binary Nepali-American and their lifelong struggle to overcome familial and cultural barriers to health and happiness. This story illustrates how sometimes the biggest obstacles QTPOC have to healthy lives is their own family, putting many of us in a position to make a really tough choice: health or family?
