Denver Food Rescue: Araceli Chicken and Salad Article

This story product comes from Colorado Equity Compass (CEC) awardee Denver Food Rescue (DFR). DFR works to fight food insecurity and provide access to fresh and healthy food to the community it serves. Over the past 6 months, the organization collected the unique stories of the families facing barriers and gaps in food access that highlight how food is part of everyone’s story and family connection. Here are a few words from DFR describing this story:

“Araceli, a program participant in the Healthy Choice Food Box Program, shares with us her story while addressing the social determinants of health, including built environment and economic stability. She also makes her mother’s recipe for roasted chicken and vegetable salad. Built environment impacts individuals safety, ability to access resources, and live a more active safe lifestyle.
