Asian Girls Ignite Student Spotlight Series: Elise Y.

Asian Girls Ignite Student Spotlight Series: Elise Y.

In 2022, the Colorado Equity Compass (CEC) awarded 20 organizations and community groups across Colorado $2,000 to share the stories of Colorado residents working to fight inequities related to the social determinants of health (SDOH), which determine an individual’s capacity for health, wellbeing and longevity.

Asian Girls Ignite (AGI) is one of those organizations, and it was formed to provide AAPI girls and women in Colorado with the positive representation and safe spaces of belonging they may be missing.

AGI captured just how unique AAPI students’ stories are through a series of Q&A blogs released on their website, social media, and newsletter. In this series, students shared everything from what gives them joy, to who is their role model, to their favorite part about being Asian American or Pacific Islander and more. Elise (she/her) is a Chinese American middle school student! She sat down to answer some of our questions — keep reading on to learn more about her.
