Asian Girls Ignite Mother-Daughter Series: Kayla & Julia

Asian Girls Ignite Mother-Daughter Series: Kayla & Julia

In 2022, the Colorado Equity Compass (CEC) awarded 20 organizations and community groups across Colorado $2,000 to share the stories of Colorado residents working to fight inequities related to the social determinants of health (SDOH), which determine an individual’s capacity for health, wellbeing and longevity.

Asian Girls Ignite (AGI) is one of those organizations, and it was formed to provide AAPI girls and women in Colorado with the positive representation and safe spaces of belonging they may be missing.

Too often, Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women have faced stereotypes that depict them as invisible, subservient, and weak. This could not be farther from the truth. Asian Girls Ignite is committed to highlighting the innate power of AAPI girls and women. AGI has invited mothers and their daughters to participate in a video project to showcase the diversity of AAPI girls and their mothers and how power can show up in a variety of ways. In partnership with Colorado Equity Compass and Denver Public Schools FACE Multicultural Outreach Production.
