Colorado, Tell Your Data Story Series

Colorado, Tell Your Data Story Series

Across Colorado, communities are facing inequities that impact their health and well-being. Factors – known as social determinants of health (SDOH) – including systemic racism, health insurance, and education, contribute to these health inequities. In order to advocate for change, communities – and the organizations that serve them – need access to data, stories, and resources to help improve the lives of all Colorado residents. Join Colorado Equity Compass (CEC) for “Colorado, Tell Your Data Story!” This virtual learning series offers Coloradans a chance to share community health stories, tie them to local data, and learn how to advocate for positive change.

Session 1, held December 14, 2022, provided an overview of the Colorado Equity Compass (CEC), an innovative and unique platform that helps communities – and the organizations that serve them – use data and stories to advocate for health equity. Then, using a community-driven and equity-focused approach, the remaining sessions walk participants through a process of how to bring data storytelling to life:

  • Session 2 (Jan. 11th): What Is the Story You Are Trying to Tell?

  • Session 3 (Jan. 25th): What Data Is Available?

  • Session 4 (Feb. 8th): Where Are There Gaps in the Data?

  • Session 5 (Feb. 22nd): What Does the Data Mean, and Does it Reflect What the Community is Seeing and Experiencing?

  • Session 6 (Mar. 8th): How Do We Gather and Share Stories?

  • Session 7 (Mar. 22nd): How Do We Bring Together the Data, Story(ies), and Visualizations in a Clear, Compelling, and Equitable Manner?
