Colorado, Tell Your Story! CEC Offers December Storytelling Training

Across Colorado, communities are facing inequities that impact their health and well-being. Factors – known as social determinants of health (SDOH) – including systemic racism, health insurance, and education, contribute to these health inequities. In order to advocate for change, communities – and the organizations that serve them – need access to data, stories, and resources to help improve the lives of all Colorado residents. Join Colorado Equity Compass (CEC) for “Colorado, Tell Your Data Story!” This virtual learning series offers Coloradans a chance to share community health stories, tie them to local data, and learn how to advocate for positive change. This first 90-minute kick-off workshop will provide an overview of the CEC, an innovative and unique platform that helps communities – and the organizations that serve them – use data and stories to advocate for health equity. CEC Trainers will share why data storytelling is an effective strategy, highlight how the CEC platform democratizes data for community members to find social determinants of health data, and identify ways participants can contribute community stories to the platform. Through interactive, small-group activities, participants will explore the Equity Data Navigator, view detailed health data at the census tract level in their own communities, and identify stories related to health factors that are having an impact on Coloradans. To register for one, many, or all of the subsequent sessions, please do so here.

The event will be held on December 14, 2022, from 9:00 to 10:30 am MT.
