Helpful Steps

  1. Learn about circulating policies and bills Research what policies and bills are currently circulating in the Colorado General Assembly.

  2. Find your elected officials Find the elected official that represents you and is responsible for the issue you are advocating for.

  3. Craft a compelling message Craft a clear message that maintains a professional and focused tone.

  4. Bring in data and stories Integrate data, a story, or an anecdote that conveys your message and details how the issue is affecting the community.

  5. Provide a call to action Include a call to action that indicates what you are asking the official to do. An example might be voting for or against a particular bill.

  6. Include contact information Provide contact information where the elected official can reach you for follow-up.
