The Colorado Equity Compass (CEC) is excited to announce that it will be awarding twenty $2,000 awards to organizations and established community groups across the state. The awards will fund existing or future programs and projects that share the stories of Colorado residents working to fight inequities related to the social determinants of health (SDOH).
The CEC Collaborative, a team with members from Change Matrix, Consume & Create, Colorado Health Institute, and The Colorado Trust, has developed a data platform to aid storytelling and activism efforts with Colorado-focused, community-level health equity indicators. View the data platform at: coequitycompass.org/data-model. The goal of CEC is not only to provide compelling SDOH data but also to bring to life the experiences of residents in communities experiencing inequities.
The storytelling award supports the mission of the Colorado Equity Compass to provide communities and organizations with the data and stories they need to improve health equity. The purpose of these awards is to support community organizations to gather and present stories to share the unique experiences of the people they serve. The goal of these awards is to use data storytelling to effectively connect real stories of community members with health equity data.
Awardees are encouraged to use data from the CEC website in their story products. Stories will be promoted and made public on the CEC website. By sharing these stories, CEC hopes to inspire action and encourage change that addresses the health disparities and needs of Colorado communities.
Twenty awards will be awarded to organizations or established community groups in Colorado, especially those serving underrepresented populations. Resident-led groups from across the state of Colorado or sovereign tribal nations within the same geography are encouraged to apply. Organizations do not need to have 501c3 status.
The CEC Collaborative Team will consider requests up to $2,000. If your proposed project exceeds this amount, please contact us prior to submission at [email protected] to discuss project details. Selected recipients will be required to submit five (5) story products — defined below — at a minimum to CEC that will be shared publicly on the CEC website, by July 1, 2022. Awardees will also be required to submit a final report (up to 500 words).
